Suggestion for buying HDTV

dont get Plasma...they burn out and over heat a lot..

LCD HDTVs are good...plus sharper image with no grain or fuzz that plasma produces.

My aunt bought a HDTV that was plasma...the picture was **** and she had HD signals coming to her tv.
But my neighbor next door bought a LCD HDTV....has HD hook up...crystal clear image..i think his was a LG or Sony....not sure...

Get a DLP. Blows away LCD and is a fraction of the price of plasma. I have a Samsung and love it.

See thats still what I dont get, if Plasma is really that bad... why are they being made and being sold at higher prices than LCDs and still cant compare?

Early plasmas were bad. Hot, heavy, limited screen life, etc. I'm sure the new models are much improved. I had a sony when they first came out (non HD) and that thing was a BEAST. Left a computer hooked up to it and the screen burned in really quickly.

But, you can get just as impressive a picture with a DLP for half the price. No, you can't hang it on your wall, but it's still much smaller/thinner than a normal rear projection box.

I have a 60-inch Sony LCD projection and love it.

Whatever you choose, look for HDMI inputs. These are the latest, pure digital inputs. For best picture quality (ie. upscaling and HD DVDs), you'll want 'em.

OHH yea..i heard about DLP TVs...the technology is created by those people who make calculators...Texas Instruments...

How much to DLP TVs run for?

Well I decided on getting the Samsung one. I liked their phones so how bad could their TVs be eh?

There are lots of 1080i hdtvs, never seen a 1080p hdtv, i'm sure they exist, and probably cost about 10G's, but 720p and 1080i are the norm.

Most network HD broadcasts (NBC, CBS, PBS) are 1080i. I've yet to see a 1080p TV in person, though I'm sure they exist. Not sure what the benefit would be since the networks are broadcasting 1080i.

Most of the sports you see are 720p... at least everything on Fox is. It's beautiful.

ps, just because the samsung is native 720p doesn't mean it won't handle 1080. It does a marvelous downconvert in the set. It's all butta.

There has to be a 1080p TV...because..in April of next year...2006...the Playstation 3 is going to be released..and that suppports high definition both 1080i and 1080p and lower...and Sony wouldnt make 1080p if there werent a tv that has it...maybe this christmas..companies will have a big sale and have 1080p tvs come out...mayybe..
