The tip broke off my headphones! Fix or trash?

I have a pair of Sony MDR 7506 headphones that I love, but an accident befell them involving a car door and the tip of the the plug broke off. Is there any way to fix the busted tip with a new part or are my cans destined to the trash can?

Thanks in advance. I tried googling the problem, but all I found was how to get a broken tip out of your computer. (Out of context that sounds wrong)

Reattaching a new plug should be an easy task with these. Get a plug with leads, solder it onto the wire, re-wrap it..

Thanks Cassius. I'll have to find a friend that knows how to solder so I don't burn a finger off.

The cable on those headphones is copper tinsel (for extreme flexibility) but it is difficult to solder. You can buy replacement cables (either straight or coiled). I thought they were available from Trew Audio, but I didn't see them just now in their online store.

Richard is right. I had to replace the mini plug on two 7506 Sony headphones. I have soldered for years and found this a tough job. Thankfully, for me I have a friend who is a real pro and he replaced it.

Thanks for the link, but I see the part I need is about $45. That's half the price of a new pair. To be honest my headphones had seen better days. I think its better for me to just buy a new pair than learn how to solder and buy an expensive part.
Thanks for the info everyone.
