The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada

I've heard good things about it...let us know what it's like! Unfortunately here in the South, a lot of the good indy movies don't come to theaters until months after they're released. We just got Captoe a week ago or so!

i'm leaving now to see it. i'll let everyone know how it was when i get home!

Just watched the trailer, looks pretty good. I'm eager to hear (err, read) your thoughts.

ok i just got back from seeing this movie. all i can say is that i loved it. tommy lee jones really shows off his directing skills in this movie. his acting was superb as well. barry pepper's acting was great as well. hell even dwight yoakam's acting was great. the movie was shot beautifully. there are many great shots in the film. the editing was good as well. the movie begins by going back and forth in time of the events and at first it throws you off but then you catch up and you're hooked from then on. i can't say enough about this film.

i give it 5 outta 5 stars.

I'm looking forward to this one! Our little indie theater is getting it next week. Thanks for the review ravinsedge!

Just watch Three Burials last night and I'm very impressed. It takes you a minute to understand how the time structure is (like Ravinesedge said) but it really serves the story and draws you into the last 2 acts superbly. As I left the theater I was pondering how the movie displayed the characters in such a subtle manner that was very effective.

It is a very good character study and really draws you into the lifes of these people.

The cinematography was great, there were some great shots that really made you look a little deeper.

All in all, a great movie. I got to see it the last day in was in the local theater. There is also a good article in American Cinematographer about the movie as well. April edition, I think.

10/10.

Great film. Story sucked me in and it was visually beautiful throughout.

Loved it.

I recommend this to all who read it.

I saw it last year or may be in 2006, may be not 10/10, but a really good movie with a real story that doesn't count on special effects.

The DOP was Chris Manges (Best cinematography for The Killing Fields, 1984)
