The sound of Les Miserables ..

[Allan Black]

Les Mis is the most incredible audio experience I've ever had in a theatre. Originally I was looking for the mics they used, then I came across this ..

It took me 90mins to get through those posts and vids.

So I've made a list of the most interesting .. 20, 38, 39 60, (mic choices > 64)
See 104 for pix of the crew. If you've only got 6mins, see 113 and ..

At the Golden Globes bake off last night .. Best Comedy or Musical: Les Misérables. Actor, comedy or musical: Hugh Jackman.
Supporting actress: Anne Hathaway.

Imo we'll see these repeated at the Oscars. I'm disappointed no acceptance speeches mentioned the sound guys.

If they hadn't worked out well in advance how the thing was going to work, the show we enjoy now wouldn't have happened.
'24 DPA lavs in pouring rain' I still can't get over that.

Cheers.

Here is a local sound guy that would fit into the theme of this thread.... He did the foley on the movie.

As big of a problem as I had with the visuals, the audio was spot on. These guys all did a bang-up job.

Yeah guys, it takes a brave man to build a foley studio 400kms from anywhere.

You'd have to be dead sure of a good client base, it's not likely you're going to get many visits or pick up any passing trade.

Cheers.
