[h=3]4K video recording and Timeshift video confirmed[/h]The Sony D6503 ‘Sirius’ will support 4K video recording, a feature that was much rumoured for the Xperia Z1 ‘Honami’ last summer. This time it is included as can be seen in the camera app below.
Another great new feature is “Timeshift video” that will allow you to record in a high frame rate which you can then apply slow motion effects to. We imagine this is something similar to slow motion video on the iPhone 5S
, which captures video at 120 frames per second in 720p, with slow-mo effects added after.

4K video in a cell phone?? Next they'll send a man to the moon!

With what many anticipate will be a sluggish 4K TV adoption process, it seems to me we're putting the cart way in front of the horse here. Then again, sizzle sells more than the steak in many cases, and 4K is certainly sizzle, but this is a non-steak head-scratcher to me. Then again, maybe it's just my age!! I just don't get the 4K craze, notwithstanding the fact that the technology is cool. I guess it comes down to the old "forcing demand" marketing ploy to corner market share. I've read reports that suggest the human eye doesn't even detect much if any difference between HD and 4K from several feet away.

I have the FS700 with no short-term plans to upgrade to 4K. Perhaps in 2015... certainly not before. By then, upgrading the FS may be an obsolete idea, who can say? Heck, I still occasionally use an AF100a on industrial shoots with good results and happy clients. What makes me shudder is the notion of processing and delivering all of that data. Yikes!

Looks like it's, "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead into the 4K zone!" Apparently, ours is not to reason why!

To sell more new 4K TV's the consumer has to create the 4K content. It makes sense since delivery of 4K movies and shows is still being developed but if you have a $2K Handi Cam and a 4K smart phone to shoot your kids eating at McDonalds then you will buy a new TV to watch it. They cant wait for broadcast to be ready. The 4K TV's are already in stores and need to be moved.

Samsung sold 10 million Galaxy Note 3 smartphones in the first two months and the US version has 4K.

I've thought about buying a cheap 32-39 inch 4k TV and putting an infrared touch bezel on it. Set it up for a touch screen editing console with two full 1080p preview screens at the top.

Jeje, i have the galaxy note 3, well Cinemartin gave to me for free, as well as for doing test with the Cinec encoder, that i can say supports conversions from note 3.
I have the EU version and it records well to 4k but it is harder to play resulting 4k files, even on a PC. I need to convert the 4k mp4 files from note 3 to h264 for playing good, or to prores if i need to edit, well i have cinec for free.
