What do you guys think about the Sock Loupe? I was thinking about getting this other than spending a lot of $$ on an HD monitor but after talking to a pro about it, he disagreed on the idea. What do you guys think?

No less than Adam Wilt and Philip Bloom have both written favorable write ups about the Hood Pro. Seems like the way to go, cheap, effective, comfortable and easily replaceable.

I don't think anything can replace a good HD monitor, i have a HD-SDI marshall and use it on DOF adapter and an EX1, the LCD on this camera is top notch. With that said I have a SOCK Loupe and it's fantastic, it really immerses you into the scene, it's razor sharp and shields the sunlight. But honestly a HD monitor is essential on a film set for blocking, focus, lighting, etc . The Sock Loupe is great if you run and gun and need to bang shots out fast. I need both myself!

Does it help at all with stabilising hand held like the z-finder is supposed to because I don't understand how you put your eye up against something floppy.
