So the audio forum tends to focus on boom mics, but I recently had a situation where my Lectro2xx+cos11 saved me. It was a scene on Teresa Decher's Twilight fest entry. We had a complicated moving camera shot such that the boom op on the mkh50 could not get in very close. Soooo, I had him switch to the mkh60 and wire Teresa up with a Sanekn cos11 going into a Lectro Um200c transmitter, being received in a Lectro 205D receiver, all going into a Sound Devices 302 before being routed to ch1/2 of the Red camera.
Results: predictably, the sound from the boom is bad. It feels very "indie'ish", echo'ey, etc. But the cos11+lectro is awesome!! Picks up her audio clear as day. I then mix in some of the boom in order to open up the sound, presto, gorgeous.
