The "Scream" look

Okay, now I don't own a DVX100, but I'm planning on buying one before the school year begins, and regardless of your comments I will still purchase it. After reading almost every review I could find and veiwing some footage from the camcorder, I wanted to know (now this goes out especially to all you tech heads), can the DVX100 produce the image quality and look like the movie "Scream". I've seen some footage with different settings and the one footage that I like most (not to knock down everyone else's footage) is from "The Complex". It has a "real" cinema feeling and look to it. I know it's possible to get different looks, by tinkering with the settings, but if anyone knows how to achieve the "Scream"-look, I would be more than happy. I plan on shooting a horror movie as my first project, and I want that type of look and feeling, the video-look is too amateur for a feature. The look doesn't have to be identically the same but up to par. Caps would be appreciated. Thank you for your support. ;)

Re: The "Scream" look

I can't quite remember the specific "look" of scream, to tell you any specifics, but generally the different looks that movies have are due to the lighting used, and diffusion filters, not the cameras themselves.

the DVX can shoot in 24P, which Scream was, and it has a pretty good lattitude of exposure. But if you have FULL control over your lighting then that really doesn't make as much of a difference as it seems. I'd study the scenes in Scream that you want to mimic, and figure out what kind of lighting set-ups they had: where the light was coming from, did they add coloured gels to the lights, etc. And how they composed their shots...

Basically, with the DVX, you can get good results regardless, so it's just a matter of setting up your scenes the same way...
