(November 2, 2005-SUGAR HILL, GA) Biscardi Creative Media (BCM) is proud to announce that our first short film, The Rough Cut, will screen December 7th, 2005 in Atlanta, Georgia. The world premiere will take place at the Regal Cinemas Hollywood 24 in Chamblee and will be shown in High Definition courtesy of Panasonic. The event will also feature a High Definition Product Showcase of all the equipment used in the making of the film courtesy of event sponsors, WH Platts Inc., Panasonic, Canon, AJA Video Systems and Medea Corporation.
BCM founder, Walter Biscardi, Jr. makes his directorial debut with The Rough Cut. “I had been looking for an independent film project for several years and when the story concept was presented, I jumped on the team right away. The film also served as a high definition test bed for Biscardi. “I made the decision to shoot the film in high-def because we honestly needed to test out the HD workflow before offering it to clients and immediately WH Platts Inc., Panasonic and Canon gave us their full support to make it happen.
The film was shot using a Panasonic Varicam F model with a full set of Canon Prime Lenses offering Biscardi and Director of Photography, Clay Walker, tremendous creative freedom on the set. “We did all the principal photography in just three days so to be able to put the camera exactly where we wanted to select the proper lens for the position was key to completing the shots on time, notes Biscardi. “Clay’s vision with the camera and lighting cues really brought a whole new level to the project.
The Post-Production process used Apple’s Final Cut Pro 5 with the AJA Video Systems Kona 2 and Medea Corporation’s FCR2X Fibre-Channel Array. Music scoring and audio mixing used DigiDesign’s Pro Tools and Apple’s Logic. “I was very fortunate to have Grammy-nominated composer, Jayne Olderman, sign on to the project along with sound designer, Patrick Belden, says Biscardi. “It’s truly amazing what the right score and sound mix can bring to a story.
The Product Showcase offers the opportunity to not only view a completed high-def project, but to actually see and learn about the equipment first-hand. “This is something we really wanted to do so it wasn’t just see a film and go home,? says Biscardi. “By bringing the equipment to the event, any video professional can come and actually see the camera, lenses, editing equipment, etc… The biggest eye opener for me was just how much the Prime Lenses enhance the image. Expected to be included in the presentation will be the Panasonic Varicam H Model, the HVX-200*, Canon Prime Lenses, Final Cut Pro / Kona 2, Medea FCR2X.
The Rough Cut is the story of Jennifer Collins, a happily married mother of two. But lately, those "what if?" questions have begun to gnaw at her. Tonight it's especially bad and after a restless night of trying to sleep she awakes to find her computer turned on. "That's strange," she thinks because it hasn't been on in several days. Walking over to the monitor, nothing can prepare her for what she is about to see.
