The Rookie's Quandry: How to buy a DVX100A

I have a quandry:

Here are the givens that I have read off of this board, and some of my own 'givens':

1) The 100B is coming out in December

2) A lot of people have told me that the 100A will work just fine, since the 100b has just a few more "creature comforts" and is more "enviromentally safe"

3) The rebate on the 100A's is not going to last forever.

4) I am not made of money.

5) The price of the 100A will drop through the floor after the 100B is released

6) I am going to Kosovo for a year, and I want at least one of these cameras with me when I fly my wife over for my 2 week R&R, in which we plan to tour europe during.

So I have 3 choices:
Buy new, buy used...or buy refurbished? (If refurb even exists)

If I buy new - I get a kit added on which is valuable, but causes me to drop $3K at one shot.

If I buy used -- I got trust a total stranger in them telling me that the camera is ok..then after I get it, it just might be screwed up, then I gotta spend money to make it right.

Refurbed - does this even exist in the panasonic world?

If my predicition is right about the price of the 100A when the 100B comes out... then I could buy new. Then again... I may be wrong.

My ironclad condition is that I have at least one of these around july 2006, if not sooner. (The sooner, the better) So I am asking anyone who has been in the quandry before for advice.

Listen to John. Rush will give you the best price you'll find from a legitimate dealer and you'll have the damn thing in your hands in no time.
 
The 100B is already out. It's already on the shelves, and it's already in customer's hands.

The 100A is sold out from a lot of dealers, it may be possible that only B&H has any left. If you want a new 100A, B&H is probably your best bet, if not your only bet.

IINM, occasionally EVS offers used equipment, they may have some used 100As available. And B&H occasionally offers used as well, I don't know if they have any used 100As but you could check and see.

I don't know about refurbs, I don't think I've ever seen any offered but maybe there are? Don't know.
 
x-angel (as in Blue?), I have the 100B, and I will have some used 100A's when the HVX comes out in Dec. Will you be in Kosovo at the time? Are you stationed there? Is this something that your wife can pay for here and bring with her to you? I can ship to APO also, but I am pretty sure that sacrifices insurance. Best bet is to buy new though, if you will be away from a means of service for a long time. Email me at Rush@evsonline.com and I can see if I can help you.

Thanks for your timely and graciious reply.

I will hit ground in Kosovo at the firest of January 2006, will be doing transfer things that I can't talk about in an open forum. But I will be there for a year

My wife could bring it with her, but I want time to play, and really get to know the camera.

I know I am demanding a lot, but I just figure I need to learn the camera first before anything else...thats why I am just looking to but the camera now, and add-ons as I see fit.

I already know I want a 35 mm lens adapter...

My strenghth in video is creativity, and I just am now learning the market angle's of things.
