The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt

Dunno how much chatter this will get on here, but I'm trying really REALLY hard to work Leonardo DiCaprio into the lead in this one in my head....and I cant, yet. I did a quick Google search for any trade articles about it. Got nothing.

Scorsese has a way of getting pretty outstanding performances out of Leo, so I'll wait on the verbal complaints. But if anyone else has any info on this, I'd appreciate the link.

Think John Hudson:

Seriously, if you want to see Teddy Roosevelt, watch The Wind and the Lion with Brian Keith in a superb performance as Theodore Roosevelt.

And I could see Brian Keith in the role....I have not seen The Wind and the Lion. I wonder if Leo will pack on some weight to play the role. He's a skinny little thing these days. :)

Well, here's a picture of him as a teenager. He was actually pretty thin as a young adult. It wasn't until later that he became athletic.

I think it would be easier to make Leo look older than it would be for Williams to pull off looking younger. IMDB info says this movie is about Roosevelt's "formative years". I'm looking forward to finding out if Leo impresses me again with his performance.

I just really dislike when actors are required to use accents, no matter how subtle and screw it up or are inconsistent. Leo did a pretty good job with the "southie" accent (to my redneck ears) in The Departed. I've seen the theatrical trailer for Blood Diamond a few times and cant figure where his character is supposed to be from. Not enough dialogue....but badly used accents ruin a movie for me.

Edit: Leo's character in Blood Diamond is supposed to be African...so a british accent? hmmm....
