Re: "The Radio Mechanics"

behind the scenes photos look definitely interesting. Could you give us a synopsis/budget and some other info??

Re: "The Radio Mechanics"

We're getting some pretty killer stuff with the DVX that the BTS production stills cannot do justice to - and that's before post!

The story involves a research scientist who calls into a late night radio talk show (a la Art Bell) and tries to convince the host of his theories on aliens, ARED (Alternative Reality Enhanced Dreaming), and their plans to unleash an apocalypse through a collision of these alternative realities (that we all presumably experience) at a specific time during his radio show via the airwaves. Supporting characters who are listening the radio program help tell the story visually. A double twist ending puts this in the vein of the Twilight Zone or Outer Limits.

This is a "no-budget" production but you won't know it to look at it. I live in a small enough town that we've been able to secure a lot of things at no cost - everything from locations to props and wardrobe. The core production group has pooled its resources to pull it off. It's mostly time and in the end we'll probably only have a few hundred bucks in out of pocket expense. 95% of it is shot at night so the schedule has been tiring. We should wrap up shooting over the next week.

The writer, Jonathan Johnson and his composer partner, Lance (Leming) Warlock are scoring it. Interestingly, Lance's father, (D)ick Warlock, played the Michael Myers character in Halloween II. (D)ick also stunt doubled Kurt Russell in everything he did early on, including Escape from NY. Lance's brother Billy spent time on Baywatch, General Hospital, etc.

We'll be releasing a full-featured DVD and run the festival circuit as a calling card to bigger projects.
