The Punisher

J.R. Hudson

Spirit Animal
I has heard that this was not a bad film and rented it this evening. I loved it! Not the perfect film stprywise or in execution but I loved it all the same. A comic book movie done right. Also Dp'd by Conrad Hall; I assume this is the son of CONRAD HALL? Very nicely done.

Re: The Punisher

oh man, i dunno hudson :D i just remember the trailer being bad, very bad. i'll put it on my net flix though.

yup, conrad hall is conrad halls son. he shot panic room after Darius Khondji "left".

Re: The Punisher

Um... are you kidding?! This was a terrible adaptation of the Punisher. Firstly John Travolta was terrible in it. Thomas Jane made an awesome Punisher, but one that for some reason didn't like killing all that much, or at least it seems didn't kill without mercy, as the character the Punisher should. The Russian was cool but there was a lot wrong with this film...

I have a feeling there was something lost when they aimed for a particular rating or something that the studio didn't like. This movie had a lot of potential going for it and disappointed me. It really could've and should've been so much better and more badass than it was :P

Re: The Punisher

Im digging it Thinman!

I did like it but do see the points you make. I am judging purely from a COMIC turned MOVIE scenario. The original sucked so bad (was that Dolph?) but I enjoyed it. I wasnt perfect and definately had some holes but overall I enjoyed it for its simple popcorn effect.

Rebecca was hot in it (I like her as she seems to be picking the right roles). I did sense the "MERCY" you refer to as at times I was like "kill that mutha!" and he would not. I dont know, I liked it for POPCORN. :-/

Travolta was TRAVOLTA (unispired turn I know.

Re: The Punisher

I found the movie to be too unoriginal. For a first time director I had hoped to see something fresh and original with lots of "zest"(lack of vocab). This felt like any action movie you'd see in the 80's.

Worst aspect had to be the send 1 hitman... he doesn't succeed. Try again... send 1 hitman... doesn't succeed... send 5 henchman...

Why didn't they just all go to his apartment at once. They also seemed to locate him without any problems.

also didn't like the dude singing the song. If he turned out to be an allie it would have been cool, but no. Sings him song, leaves diner, then chases him down in vehicle. Script had a few too many holes.

I loved the original with Dolph, I really like Thomas Jane for the part(notice they changed his face slightly to resemble the comic). I look forward to more aggressive, over the top violence in sequels to come.

Jane was f'in ripped!! Glad to see Big Sexy Cool aka Kevin Nash(The Russian) is still around. Too bad Razor Ramon didn't have a cameo.
