The Proposition - You guys should see this film

I saw it when it came out.
The only thing I remember from it was what I knew before. The title, setting, genre, Guy Pearce and Nick Cave.

It's good in the same way "Black Swan" is good. I'd recommend it but not for a good time. Just for the sake of watching great cinema. I watched it last night and remember thinking... "Damn these aussies. Their cinema is so different from Hollywoods."

It's a pretty beautiful but violent western film with not much of a resolution.

so.. good or not good, jawa?
I remember liking it, but not in a "poo poo I gotta see this again right away and tell all my friends about it and buy it on DVD right friggin now"-kinda way.

Back then my films was very different from what it is now though.

Put off seeing this for forever and finally saw it for sale at a shop a month or two ago and picked it up.

Fantastic cinematography. Very bleak but well made none-the-less. It's such a downer movie that I'm not in a rush to see it again quickly, but it really is quite great.

I watched this after I saw John Hillcoat's follow up, The Road (based on the McCarthy novel). Fantastic movie. There was a lot going on in the subtle undertone of the film, and the cinematography alone was worth watching it for. If you liked this movie, I strongly recommend checking out The Road (if you haven't seen it). It's got the same bleak tone, and certainly isn't a "fun" movie, but my god, it was an amazing cinematic experience.

I enjoyed The Proposition. It was very well-shot. But I wasn't reeled in to the story. Seems like it tried a little too hard to be grim and bleak.
