ok I am confussed, I was watching once upon a time in mexico and then listened to the commentaty gordriguez made about shooting with High def
and then I started thinking how is this done, ok I know we shoot with the hvx in high def, or the varicam on rodriguez's case, and then what? I know it cost a lot of money to do the blow up to 35mm and then thay make copies out of that original right? can some one please explain to me how it works and the steps invloved? and why its so expensive for us that shoot with the hvx to do a blow up to 35mm
thanks

damn that is expensive 27 grand just for a 60 min hd to 35mm transfer, so in order to show it at theaters they have to make a lot of copies out of the original? at the same cost?

The theatrical release prints would come from an internegative (made from the answer print) and would be much less expensive as they can be produced by a contact print method.
