The power of the MACBOOK

Today i did, what i thought was the impossible. Install Final Cut Pro on a Mac Book. My god it worked. The basic model mac book runs faster and smoother than the basic Imac.

How can this be. Apple say it cant be done. But i did it, and it ran so fast and smooth.

Well over the phone they said that. The reason is, we are flying over to dubie to teach aload of people video editing and we really couldn't afford aload of Mac Book Pro's. So i tried it. And it worked.

From my understand, the graphics card is not ideal for FCP use. You can install FCP but the video playback and capture will not be optimal. It's been talking about that the macbook, as far as graphics card is concerned, is actually a downgrade from the old ibooks.
 
Apple does say that it can't be done; in the system specs it says that it requires a certain graphics card and that the MacBook doesn't have it.

Others have speculated that FCP will work fine but Motion won't.
 
FCP is not really that bad on a MB but Motion is a dog once you try anything complex.

i run FCP on my black macbook and it runs fine. Heavy graphics does slow it down due to the graphic card. I even run after effects 7 on it (you just have to change your memory settings). Max out the ram tho!
 
I'm talking standard def. uncompressed though. Haven't yet tried 2k or 4k film scans. I'm pretty sure it would choke a bit on those. The datarate of BlackMagic for SD is around 135 mbit so it's not that bad. The thing is clearly suitable for DVCProHD.
