The pigs are flying, the fat lady is singing, hell has frozen over,

Sorry, but I can't wait to go to mac... with all the drama of editing on a PC I'm ready when funds allow.

Really?

I was so mad at Final Cut Pro today I almost gave up my contention that it's better than Vegas. Which was almost as shocking to me since I stand by FCP as the one reason I use a Mac.

But not quite as shocking.

Anyhow, if you have a nice rig, you'll love it. Enjoy.

lol...yeah.. no super Mac yet.. but it has been a couple interesting Mac days. Friday I shot a Blistex Commercial where there where at least 8 power books on set, and we where recording HD-SDI to hard drive on my PC and I couldnt give the footage to anyone on set to check. Then I got bleak news about DVCpro and Vegas, and I had dinner with a very influential person sunday night that just switched to macs after 20 years on the PC. With the announcement today about the Dual Core G5's, I just had to see what all the hype was about, got myself a weak little mini mac and it was love at first sight.

I switched about a month ago. There have been a few minor problems, mostly having to do with running some of my hybrid PC/Mac software in OSX. But I'm much happier with Final Cut than I was with premiere. Editing is almost fun again.

Jarred, so when are you getting one of those DC G5s?

Congratulations!!!

It took me years to make the "switch", but I haven't looked back since. I converted not only my home but my business to mac. Since then, everyone who works with/for me has switched to macs in their personal life as well. I don't think I would ever go back to PCs, if only because I no longer have to worry (really) about viruses.

Congrats Jarred. I've been on Mac for a month or so now. I loved it so much, I bought 3 and switched everything. I don't think the Dual Core G5's have been *officially* announced yet. I think this is supposed to happen at the Apple Paris Expo tomorrow (Tuesday). Unless I missed the news....I just read all rumor sites (macrumors.com, thinksecret.com, etc.)

oh sorry. yeah no dual cores yet (wink wink).

It has been an interesting. It took me three hours to set up my email and i almost gave up cause I couldnt change any settings, until i found the little grey pill in the top right corner... that pops open a little flip out settings thing. very cool. I keep hitting control+c to copy something and something really funky happens but it doesnt copy. and My delete button doesnt work. Oh yeah and the eject button took a while too. But we are all good in the hood.

But.. far and above anything else so far, the Spotlight feature alone is worth the switch.

Yeah...(Wink)(Wink)

I wish they would hurry up and announce it already and quit with the "Beatin' around the bush" hype machine.

Indeed. 10.4 Tiger is AWESOME. Spotlight is sooo handy. Great feature. So are the widgets too. I've been using mostly photoshop, protools, and garageband...but it's been great so far. I haven't found ONE thing that I can't do on a MAC that I could do on a PC....well unless you want to count catching viruses and spyware

Go ahead and get Firefox too.....unless you like Safari.....

yeah.. the only thing I am missing is my Microsoft Photodraw version 1999. Just because of that stupid program, i still gotta have the PC on standby.

I'll be making the switch in December. I'm getting paid quite a bit of money to DP and edit a feature. I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully with the announcement of the Dual core G5's, the prices of the 2.7ghz ones will go down. I'd be more happy if they did.
