The Olympus E-system thread

Once Again Mino. This forum should be turned into Mino's Photography Section. :) You photographs are amazing and that panorama looks awesome keep pumpin em out!

Thanks Adam, hopefully I'll get off the total nature thing soon which has been dictated by time and gas prices. Working my summer job at the moment and I don't make near as much as when I'm doing shows. Got a couple of pocket wizards, strobes and umbrellas and stuff coming so hopefully I'll change my tune a bit:)

These guys live on that blanket on the stairs of a run down rooming house. It's 8 am and they are just out of bed but the warmth of the morning sun feels too good to chase mice just yet.

I actually got some time to myself today to shoot. Didn't notice I had the camera at f16 which makes hand holding the 70-300mm tough:(. I salvaged some.....

Hey Mino ... great shots. I like the pan photo a lot. I'm wondering what you do with your exposure when you do this? I've tried adjust for good exposure in the darkest areas and held that and adjusted as necessary in PS and I've tried the reverse, setting the exposure for lightest areas. Then recently I read ..... DUH! ... set it for the medium. Then adjust in PS. Hey, sometimes I can't see the trees for the forest. :)

I'll be trying that soon. I think I tried "auto" once and didn't like it.

Thanks guys...For the panno shot I used a 14-45mm lens set at 14mm f11 at 1/80 /sec. I metered for the first shot (Furthest right) and just carried it through to the last shot at the same settings. My reasoning for that was it seemed to me there was more dark shadow area than full blown sun and in the sunny zone it didn't look like much would blow out if I overexposed a tad. I found that if I use auto, the camera makes a different choice for each shot and I can't be bothered to spend the time trying to get them all balanced. Metering for an average accross the board then going for the middle ground from the readings should work should work also though I've never tried it in a panno shot but I used that technique a fair bit in single shots with good results.

PS...ISO 400...Reason....Dumbass here forgot to slack it back from previous shot:)

Hey! Don't say that about one of my favorite photographers on this board! :) I hope forgetting something makes not a dumb a$$ or I'm far past being an ignorant donkey!

Thanks for the exposure info.

Larry, forgetting if he ever forgot something ..

What in the world is that monstrosity Mino?! At first I thought it was just another block head but then I saw below the neck ...

On the topic of stupid photography tricks, yesterday I threw a couple of bottles of gatoraid in the freezer and I forgot my point and shoot was in the same bag. Some hours later I was looking for the camera and remembered it was in that same bag. I pulled it from the freezer frozen solid:(....After the thaw it still seems to work OK:). That monstrosity was a sand sculpture I happened upon the other day.

Pretty amazing what some folks do with sand!

So Mino ... is that camera-in-a-freezer trick your own version of a Coolpix? :)

Glad no condensation ruined it for you when you took it out.

It thawed out and works the same as always:). This weekend I'm finally getting an E-3 and two remote control flash heads and I can hardly freaking wait.... I'll be able to shoot in the rain!!....I will shoot in the rain!!! LOL! My old E-500 will be used to knock the nails in when I hang pictures, the E-510 will work alongside the E-3.

I'll be able to shoot in the rain!!
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the results of that ... should be awesome. Nothing better than a beautiful landscape vista with the rain coming down ... will be beautiful!

Such cruelty for such a trusted friend that served you well until now. Well make sure you take a picture of the nail before you hammer it in

Better yet, send the camera down to me ... I'll take pictures of nails for you :)
