The Official Manhattan LCD HD Monitor Thread

Please tell me what I need to purchase if I want to do the following.

I want the battery pack to be connected to my 15mm rods that holds my system in the back so that it will balance the monitor in the front. What are the accessories that I need to purchase so I can hook up to my rig?

I just saw the HD071A on sale on the Manhattan site. I really like to buy it but I like to know how much it will cost by the time I purchase everything that will make it work in with rig. Will the battery Tekkeon MP3450i Battery last more than 4 hours? If not, what other batteries will work and accessories to connect to my rig?

The MP3450i lasts about 4 hours give or take. I bought the 3450-10 battery extension which doubled the battery life, but also increased weight.

Factor in a mounting option for the monitor. A lot of people uses Noga arm to mount on the camera shoemount which I think is a bad idea. I use the Zacuto Z-mount and their Zamerican arm to mount on my 15mm rod. Pricey but rock solid.

I don't get it. Are the pixels smaller on the 7.1"? Why would someone pay a grand for only 800 x 480?

Well, you do get things like false color, peaking and blue gun. The false color looks like it would come in really handy for exposure as none of these monitors can accurately represent brightness.

anyone know if is avaible on line like PDF?

anyone can suggest me :
1) how to go in the hidden menù?
2) how to flip image?

The hidden menu is a bit tricky to get too

1) Press INPUT on the remote. The input menu shows up, now press INPUT again so that it disappears. Do this at least 3 times. Then press 2008 on the keyboard. It can be a pain as sometimes you'll hit the wrong key and the menu won't shows up, but keep trying.

2) There is no software flip, but you can just mount the monitor upside down with the bottom screw thread.

I ordered a Manhattan Monitor on saturday. I'm just wondering how long would it take to ship? I e-mailed the company, but I haven't received a reply.

Nevermind shipped today

Has anyone tried a Manhattan monitor on the T2i yet? Thoughts? Johnzo what would you recommend for this camera?

Well, it says "8.9" HD Pro Monitor HD089B (NTSC & PAL)" on their website, so I guess it is, but how I don't know..

Anyone who have ordered from Manhattan lately? I'm placing my order soon, but a bit worried about delivering time, stuff not available etc. what to expect..

Cheers /v

Yeah, it says that, but there's no indication anywhere as to what that means exactly.

I did get a response from Manhattan saying that it did both, but no clarification about whether there's a menu setting or if the thing just senses the signal and acts accordingly.

Got this from Manhattanlcd after asking a 2nd time:

"We are in the digital age these days. The PAL or NTSC signal will go thru a ADC then to the processor."

"So it really doesn't matter if it PAL or NTSC it's digitized."

Yeah,.. I'm still waiting for an answer to availability on the 7.1".. Kinda wanna just order it now and cross my fingers, but on the other hand it would be good with just a bit of info from them before I wire the $$$...

I went with the $200 Lilliput 7" for now. I know it's pretty much a framing monitor, but for critical focus I will use a laptop / marks on the followfocus until I can afford abetter solution.

It was kind of deal braker that the manhattan isn't 720p like the smallHD, and that, with shipping costs, batteries etc., almost reached around $780. Only $200 from the smallHD which comes with sunhood, 2x batteries etc.

cheers, v

I got the HD089B and have opted to stick with the Lilliput 7" instead for on camera use. I like the 8.9" unit, but it's just too big to use as an onboard monitor so I'll probably end up using it as an editing monitor and when I need something for jib use or critical focus use on location.

I've just put an order on the DP1's website for the SmallHD monitor. Now, if anyone can help me buy an articulating arm mount for mounting to Redrock shoulder mount rod, that will be nice. The DP1 only accepts regulated 12vDC power sources through a female 5.5mmOD 2.1mmID standard barrel plug. If anyone knows or have batteries that fit this criteria, please PM me. I like to buy them.
