Does anyone else think the office is the funniest thing on right now? I just bought season 2 and I cant stop watching it. Steve Carrell is hillarious and the whole way the show is put together is great.

I dunno, I tried to give it a chance once or twice, and couldn't get myself to crack a smile.

My favorite shows are as follows:

No Order:

Sopranos
Simpsons
Everybody loves Raymond
House
Prison Break

Thats what some people have told me. I guess you either love it or hate. It takes a wierd sense of humor, but I cant get enough of it. Cant wait for the new one this week.

Steve Corell is so good, i have to look away some times, its so embarrassing. he is the best thing going right now and i hope he never stops. SUBPERB

My wife and I really like the British version a lot and we borrowed the first season and thought it was okay even though some episodes are identical to the British version. I know, I know Rick Gervais and Steven Merchant are writers. But some of season two is funny, we just don't get NBC very well where we live (can't afford cable and the bunny ears are cutting it). As much as I like Steve Carrell and his character, he is no David Brent. But I will continue to watch, when I can...and the reception gets better.

great show - though I do find the over-goofiness (when compared to the british version) a bit overkill at at times.

It is a bit of an acquired taste - I watched an episode or two a while back and didn't laugh once, then bored one day, I dowloaded a few episodes from iTunes - couldn't stop watching - it's got to sink in first IMO. There's a lot of subtle humor compared to your average sitcom thanks to the documentary style that I think I probably missed when I watched it for the first time.

Both the british and the american version is hilarious. You have to have that dry sence of humor to get it. If you love anything Christopher Guest makes (i.e. Spinal Tapp, Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman), then you will love the office. Your right Tony, I think it is the best comedy out there right now.

Why would they feel the need to remake it with American actors/accents when the original is almost identical except for the English accents? What did the remake offer that the original didn't? It's not like it was in Latin? I don't get it.

They're not similar - humor is a bit different.

Did you only watch the first episode? They remade the first episode ver batim, but after that they're two different shows

Yes I only watched the first episode. In Aus we got the British version first then the American. After watching the first and seeing it was the same I couldn't see the point.

Thanks for the heads up.

I like the original more but Ricky Gervais likes it, so I have to give it a chanse. I want to see the episode this season that Ricky and Stephan wrote.

He has to make an appearance sometime!

He should've been Packer

I like the British version alot but Steve Carrell is funnier than Gervais. I know I might get crap for saying that but thats how it is.

The British and American versions are quite different. Same types of characters, but it's more American slapstick vs. British humor. I like both, but I can't wait until this Thursday!

This show makes me laugh. I do like the British one a lot too, because I like that kind of humor better in many ways.
