well, just by looking at it, i know the UK version was shot standard def at 25fps. and the US version is shot in HD. i also know that the original is supremely brilliant and the US version still feels like a bunch of sitcom writers trying to adapt to the form but unable to stop relying on their old tricks and gags. the naturalism of the original is missing. and i also know no one asked for my opinion. so i'll stop here.
I think the original is far better too. I know I read an article on the set in American cinematographer, so maybe you could google that.
I feel with the American version all the nuance is gone and the character dynamics aren't as good. But then again, sense of humour is probably the most subjective thing next to whether one likes a** play.
i saw the office for my first time last week... walked in on my dad watching it, sat down and started watching it , and laughed at it. I like it how they do all the camera panning all over the place... funny show
i dont know what its shot on but i love this show. Steve Carrel is one of the funniest people around right now IMO. a lot of this show is actually improv according to some of the actors. i love the british version too, but i dont get to see it that often...
I've only seen a couple episodes of the Steve Carrel verision. It's funny but what I've seen isn't as good as the original. But remakes are rarely as good as the original.
Sorry, I don't know any tech specs as to how either show was shot.
The US version is shot in HD and in 24P. I think the pictures in Videography showed Sony cams, but I'm not sure. They're rather vague in the article (available here). I'll find my hard copy and home and see what they are.
anyone catch the season finale of the Office last night. great episode... I loved when Jim had Dwight thinking he could move things with his mind... classic. and Dwight saying the tuxedo belonged to his grandfather and he was buried in it.. LOL
