Hey DVX,

Have the opportunity to purchase a used AF100 body only with 300 hrs of use. For $400 it's a great start camera to pair with my minor in film/video. Or would you recommend a different camera?
Is the "The AF 100 Book" still obtainable? Thank you for your time.

If it's just for fun, why not. But if no other research was done, I'd read up a bit more. There are $400 brand new MFT (and other) mirrorless' which look day and night more modern than the AF100.

Having owned both I can tell you I would much rather spend $4-500 on a used GH5 than on an AF100, which aside from maybe the ergonomics and built-in ND is vastly inferior in IQ.

A Canon C100 might be a better option if you can find it for about the same price.
The C100 captures oversampled 1080P from a 4K S35mm sensor and has a Log profile.

Thank you everyone for replying. Was looking for a cinema camera for $1k or under, with HDMI or SDI output for steadicam workflow. In negotiation for a Canon C100 Mkii and a Sony FS5M2, but I think it's best to stick with the Nikon D750 and get a new 35mm lens for my film studies.

Thank you again for replying.

$400 feels overpriced for a Panasonic AF100.

With luck you might get a Sony FS7 or F5 or OG URSA Mini for that kind of budget you have, US$1K.

It would be very easy to find a FS5, FS700R, C300mk1, or F3 for sub $1K. And I'd take any of those in a heartbeat over an AF100 or C100.

Purchased a Canon C100 mk ii with 23hrs the original box and registration card for $835. Off to the Canon EOS forum to search for tips and tricks to get up to speed. Thank you to everyone who replied.

Thanks, and about AF100 (12MP -1080 24mbps) are all the pixels used, or used Pixel Doping ?
