It's not rocket science to say that a good movie needs a good story. Just FX won't get you there as we found out with John Carter, Pacific Rim, The Lone Ranger, and the list goes on. It's not like Hollywood doesn't know you need a good story and that's what the producers of the new Star Wars trilogy are saying. And it's something you hear over and over again. We know we need a good story and without that FX are meaningless...
It's nice to hear, but why then do we get so many crappy stories that are all over the place with plot holes, no real main character, or characters we don't care about? Look at Prometheus, or Dark Shadows. Really bad writing, at least the part that made it to the screen.
And the latest Star Wars movies. Wow, the stories are so awful and the characters are so bland.
Anyway interesting article. I do hope they manage to come up with a good script before they put the FX houses to work on all the CGI.
