The Neon Demon

I just saw The Neon Demon this past weekend and I really enjoyed it.

It's like Wild Things had it been made by Lars Von Trier.

I think it could be the best mixture of Refn's brutal and gorgeous sensibilities.

Some really cool imagery, but not as dependent on that as some of his other work.

The story and feel of the film was the best work he's put out yet IMO.

I want to watch it again, but I had a lot of fun with it on my first viewing.

It did make me want to go back and watch Only God Forgives again, which I haven't watched again since seeing it in theaters

I saw it on Friday and I enjoyed it a lot as well. I'll probably end up seeing it again. It's definitely faring better with the masses compared to OGF (which I also liked). We're in a time where there's nothing interesting in the mainstream cinema so this was a refreshing treat.

I actually was at the IFC Theater in NYC a few days before that and saw Pusher screened in 35mm. Refn was there to do a short intro (he had to run off to a Neon Demon premiere). I love his "I don't care about anything" attitude. He's quite the director.

Neon Demon really was awesome, I do want to seee it again in theaters before it goes.

I finally got to watch it last night when it arrived via Blue-Ray. I really enjoyed it. Beautifully shot by Natasha Braier. Cliff Martinez score as perfect as well.
