The most expensive songs ever!!!

I'd love to know where that figure came from. Even counting uploads it kind of seems like a joke. As though someone thought it would be funny to be overly dramatic about the situation. Is the law really written with arbitrary sums, rather than based on damages?

I like the way that her defense tried to sway the jury by suggesting that *they* should worry about getting hammered for the same offense, if they found her guilty. Because, you know, her actual liability or non-liability is secondary to whether the jurors might be contemplating some thievery of their own, somewhere down the line...

Guess what, the most effective way to insulate yourself from the consequences of an offense, is to avoid committing one.

Zero sympathy, here. Try sticking to infringements that you can actually afford to pay for, if you should get caught.

theyre probably trying to get the most money they can out of people
mostly because they are losing all their money to things like limewire and stuff
i download songs too by p2p and everyone doing this starts bringing down artists
this makes the music industry desperate to make as much cash as possible

Though I think the fine was excessive, and does not reflect real damages, Sad Max hit it on the head. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
