The Messenger

Totally Usable
In my ongoing effort to call attention to under-seen films…

Why more people haven't been talking about The Messenger lately I have no idea. I think Woody Harrelson, Ben Foster and Samantha Morton deliver award-worthy performances, and first-time director Oren Moverman does a great job with a very touchy subject (war and loss).

This could have easily become over-wrought melodrama but instead is a film with powerful insights on grief, sacrifice and humanity.

Okay, yeah. Haven't seen this. I was going to flame you until I realized you weren't talking about that atrocious Milla Jovavich film about Joan of Arc.
