The Machinist

Christian Bale in an amazing film. He looks completely different, so different it's JARRING!! The first time you see him...the audience gasped!

If anyone gets a chance to see this movie, see it and let me know...It's a limited release film and it's absolutely amazing! I saw it last night, and for those of you who like "not of the norm" films see this!!!

John Hudson about half way through I was thinking, oh man John would love this! It's like a modern suspense...

I can't explain it, and I've checked the sites, and neither can they!

Go see it, it's worth the 8 bucks, plus more...

Re: The Machinist

I really, really hope this comes near me at some point. I really want to see it, especially now that I hear it's good.

Re: The Machinist

I remember reading he starved himself to the point where the director began to question his health - mental and physical. I will try and dig that article up.

Re: The Machinist

The starving himself is completely true, as a director, I'd be worried if the audience was paying too much attention to how he looked and too away from the movie!

From Equilibrium to this...and as you guys know, all the way bulked up to Batman...He's definitely dedicated to this art...

For like 5 minutes, I sat in the audience thinking...Damn...is his body computer generated??

Re: The Machinist

Everyone I've talked to talked about how different he looked. When I asked them about the movie, they said they couldn't get their minds off how skinny he was... so perhaps it was a bit distracting.

Re: The Machinist

This just opened here.. time to check it out.
Brad Anderson.. getting into his work lately. I really liked Session 9 and Happy Accidents.

Re: The Machinist

Yeah Woodson, you said Session 9 and Happy Accidents were good? I picked up a paper about Brad Anderson and his earlier works when I was at the theater that mentioned those, and I really want to check them out, I wonder if I can find them at Blockbuster?

Also, if anyone knows this genre of like weird suspense...The article said see "The Tenant"...anybody see that? I saw it, It was weird too...

Blockbuster should have them. Especially Session 9. Great film.

Re: The Machinist

Hope it comes here. When I saw Christian Bale in American Psycho I remember thinking "this guy is either one amazing actor or really a psycho"

At the very least it will show up on DVD but would be nice to see it in the large.
