For the past two weeks I've been shooting with the Century Optics Telephoto Converter 1.6X lens on my DVX100 camera. Let me tell you: it's a good little tool. But as Barry and Jared have posted in the past, it's not going to give a dramatic boost to your shooting style.
In fact, I agree with them whole-heartedly-- it's not worth the $850 price tag.
But if you can find it used, as I did, then I would definately recommend it.
Because I definately am using the thing. A lot.
If you want a shallow depth of field, this thing will help you get that. It's not suddenly going to give you that effect of a film 35mm lens, but it definately is a boost than using the standard lens.
Secondly, I've noticed that it has added a certain tiny stetch to my shots, makes everything a little skinnier. And I really like that look, it films more like film.
My next post will have pictures as I did a test to compare them. I am too tired to post them up right now because I spent all day shooting gorillas in the Bronx Zoo. A perfect memorial day.
