The longest process for anything I have ever edited. Sheena's "Social Butterfly"

Nice work. I like the look. But, needs more action. Any effect can get old fast, although you do a great job with what you did. It's a high energy song, needs a high energy visual.

At the bridge, you get really great. But during the versus, it drags. I think some minor reworking would give it some real punch.

In a nutshell, too much of the same effect (although you do it really well), and too much static shots for this piece.

Love the ending, very cool!

nice

nice

I agree with Ben, very cool effect but slightly overused. maybe not overused but just overused on the same shot maybe. It would be cool (although slightly cliche) to intermix a story line in there, related to the song itself to help carry the viewer throught it. I found my self reaching for a chip and not watching some of it. Also I admire the effect because of how time consuming it probably was. You could maybe just cut from the effected shots to whole shots to vary it up a little. (squares to no squares kinda thing) Or maybe (assuming you have the footy) through a CU of the keyboards being played into a couple of the squares or just one.

I don't know? just throwing some stuff out there. I know how we editors like to brainstorm and just have ideas throwin around.

Also, side note. Just wondering what you used to film it. It looks a little better than a $300 handycam ,if you know what I mean. And I think I can assume you used FCP right.

well done. very enjoyable. sent it to a couple friends. I agree that more insert shots across the board (like the keyboards) would carry it through the middle part or even random squares of solid color, static, letters....etc. otherwise great job...waited for the last squares to disappear and liked the flicker light off effect to the dark blue glow and end. rambling I know but excellent job and very close to being even more special!

thanks very much. I used a dvx100 with anamorphic lense and custom settings. I did indeed use FCP.

I also think the effect might have been a bit over used, but because of the time I put into it I feel more than satisfied.

thanky you for enjoying it and sending it to your friends solomojo.
