I saw this last night, this little cinema verite gem, and what a movie it is! Yes at times it's slow, but it's a character study of a bastard child, the obly criticism I would there too many pregnant pauses, but the performances Pell James(she is hot!), Laura Harring(even hotter) glad to see William Hurt back and Gael Garcia Bernal, what a star, he so subtle with his expressions that it explains everything. Anyway, I'd recommend this movie very much. Great film making.

Ebert and Roeper loved the film too, Gael and Hurt are 2 of their favorite actors and they said it was a shame that it wasn't getting a wider release... if it gets released near me i may go see... not cause of E & R but cause i'm a william hurt fan. what he did in the short amount of time that he was in History of Violence was amazing!

Saw this again on DVD. Damn, this movie is a masterclass in film making. Anyone studying film or is just a movie buff needs to watch this.
