I'm not sure how many people are familiar with it, but The Journal of Short Film is a pretty awesome DVD concept that I would love to see more of.
The JSF is a quarterly DVD publication that features all types of short films from across the globe, whether it be narrative, experimental, animation, or doc work. Submission to the DVD is completely free, and the organization that puts it together is entirely non-corporate.
Each DVD features about 10-12 short films for $10 a pop, and subscriptions are $36. These are the types of films that you'll typically see on the festival cicruit, but nowhere else... They've been around for about a year now, and I've been impressed with each DVD thus far.
Anyway... just wanted to pass along the word. I think these guys could use some more exposure. It's great exposure for filmmakers.
