The Jacket

Anybody besides me see this movie? The theatre had all of twelve people in it when I went.

Its wasn't too bad, but I wanted a bigger less conventional ending. I was expecting a sort of sixth sense twist, but it never came.

Twists suck. They have become uber-cliche' and I can't see why we still have so many movies that all have that *Twist* in the last 10-15 minutes of the movie. Must be the typical Hollywood system regurgitating itself over and over again. As for the Jacket. I can't wait to see it. It actually looks like it might be a fresh *idea*....but it is a Studio picture (Warner & Mandalay).....so I won't get my hopes up. ~reservoir~

Sorry Spidey....this is the year 2005. Twists are old, tired, and cliche'.....much like Billy Crystal. (See Oscar Ceremony Thread!!) I admit they were great for awhile....but we need a new twist on *Twists*!! I think *Saw* did an ok job at this. But what do I know....I'm in here with you all instead of making films......~reservoir~

I saw the movie on friday...I liked it. It only made like 2.5 million in the box office. Was this b/c it was at only a few theaters or did just no one go see it? I do know that there was no marketing (commericals, ads, etc.) b/c I didn't even know it was out until I looked at the local listings.

The movie Hitch was advertised a lot and is still doing pretty good in the box office and that movie pretty much was gay. The movie Robots has been advertised like crazy so I expect that to go really really well.

That just goes to show how valuable advertising is even tho it may not seem like it

In a movie like this, I can see how it does need a twist. Twists are cool in a movie where its required. I would be dissapointed If I didn't see one in a psychological thriller, or any thriller for that matter. Imagine Usual Suspects without a twist. Its not really that much fun if you know whats happening the entire time and you can predict the ending with ease. And Twists arn't everywhere, I dont think I have seen a romantic comedy with one. It's just a case by case basis, some movies execute the twist effectively and most dont.

I consider a bad twist as one that I am able to predict before they let us in on the secret. But most of the the 'twist' movies I have seen have been generally good. The last 'good' twist movie I saw was 9 queens.

Saw it last night. Okay movie, kinda lagged to begin with, seemed a little amateur for the first half an hour, kinda felt like it wasn't sure of where it should go, like they didn't have a clear picture of how it should be cut or if it was a drama or thriller. Suprised to see brief nudity of Knightly, quick topless shots were her best parts in the film as I found her acting to be totally crappy. She seemed so forced to me, and she had the same stupid expression on her face for most of the film.

The film played well on the cunnundrum(spelling?) of time travel. But... if I could go back in time I'd probably see another movie and check this out on a 2 for 1 video rental night.

Question though for people who've seen it(might be a minor spoiler):

Were Daniel Craig, the blue eyed Mackenzie character who was friends with Brody in the hospital, and Brad Renfro, the killer who Brody is framed by the same person in the film. Reason I'm asking is as Craig looks out the window it looked as though he was holding a green chain wrapped around his fingers, and when they showed Renfro in the bar he spins a green chain around his fingers. So did Craig(Mackenzie) go back in time when he was in the jacket? I didn't pay close attention to his time travel speech, but he mentioned something about going backwards. Anyways, just curious if they were supposed to be the same person and that that was a twist in the story.
