The Invasion (Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig)

Horrible film. At least the cut I saw. Attended a screening last week and really didn't like it. The camera work looked good, but that's about it. The editing/pacing is pretty bad, way too quick, especially at the beginning. Craig does a good job but is vastly underused. I've never been a Kidman fan, and this did nothing to change my mind. Also, the movie has no semblance of subtlety, everything is so spelled out and in your face. And don't get me started on the dialouge...

Sorry for such a negative post. I really was interested in this movie and had some high hopes for it. Granted, it was a rough cut, but considering it's coming out in less than a month (?), I doubt much will change.

I rented this a couple days ago and I can see why this thread never went anywhere... WTF were they thinking? You nailed it on all counts man... although I'll say that Nicole has always done it for me physically... she pushes all the right buttons for me... but this movie didn't manage to push even one.

To me this really tells you how hard it is to do a good movie, because I felt like I was watching something from an average film school student. The editing was hideous at times... as if the editor was trying to create a story on his own, from new clips as he discovered them.

Here's a quote from imdb:

"Originally wrapped in early 2006, the film underwent massive reshooting in 2007. The reason for this was the studio which didn't liked the cut director Oliver Hirschbiegel delivered. To change that, Andy Wachowski and Larry Wachowski were brought in for rewrites and James McTeigue to direct the new scenes."

Here's a quote from me:

"This film sucked. Watching a senile old man try to cross the street is more scary than this."

Just saw it last night, and yeah, this movie is terrible. The dialogue was laughably pretentious -namely, the conversation at the dinner party about man's capacity for good or evil, blah blah blah...They were trying to introduce all of these important questions, but they seemed out of place in such a silly movie.

Kind of a waste of this genre. Brought absolutely nothing to the table we haven't seen a million times before....
