The infamous "Wilhelm" scream

[Batutta]

Great wired article about this infamous sound effect. The youtube compilation at the bottom is great as is the history of wilhelm, although you'll never want to hear that scream again after watching both.

I have used the scream in a few of my projects as jokes, and to continue the legacy.

I pointed the scream out to my wife when we watched Death Proof last week and told her the whole story. A few days later Wired arrives and it's got a chart explaining the whole thing. Gotta love coincidences like that. At least now she doesn't think I'm nuts...

But the question is, are all of these screams the original, or copies? And if it's not the original, is it still considered the same scream?

How do you get your hands on the original anyways?

Saw a good article about it on Damn Interesting as well: http://www.damninteresting.com/?p=787
