The impossible job...

I am editing a Wedding Video right now. The groom is a "musician" and has insisted that I ONLY use the music of his choosing. He was nice enough to compile it all for me on several CDs but NONE of these songs work for a wedding video. Let's finish by saying, hes into the BLUES.

Do you know how hard it is to piece together a photo-montage of them growing up to songs with words like "why did she leave me?" or "I've been miserable ever since you left" or "you leaving me hurt so bad I hope you slip under a landslide and taste your own blood." I mean, WTF???

Lol reminds me of a story my dad once told me about his friend's wedding. As a joke, a couple of them hijacked the DJ's rack, and started playing 'please release me' while the bride and groom were dancing.

He just made your job that much easier. Edit it without any musical cues and then throw the track on top. If the music doesn't fit and he wants it in anyways he'll be happy no matter how the image matches his music. And I bet he'll say that you did an amazing job of blending the two. I'll bet ya a dollar!

Well, I probably should mention that I am doing this on the cheap, cheap, CHEAP. The Bride is actually a friend/work acquaintance of my from my day-job so though I am getting paid, its so minimal that it doesn't even factor into this. But, I still want to do a good job. But, I want them happy. So, their depressing, unfitting music stays.

Half of these CDs are the Blues, the other half is TECHNO. I mean, come on...his taste in music is KILLING me.....

Well, he's probably thinking you're a "filmmaker."

Of course he is! The poor SOB is getting married after all! Ba-dum-bum! I'll be hear all week. Try the veal.

Dang, I must be out of the wedding video business WAY too long:
I thought it matters naught what the groom wants, when it comes to final approval of wedding videos!
:)

He wants the blues? Put Gibson's drunken rant as background music, take his moolah before he hears it, and leave. No, dont do that.

Instead, use some obstructive Bob Dylan song that will ring in your ears while you watch. He will be so appreciative of that. They're about to kiss and all you can hear is "SILVIO! SILVER AND GOLD! GONNA BUY BACK THE BEAT OF A HEART GROWN COLD." Its been considered blues by some people, but not by majority's standards.

Most importantly, ask the bride what she wants- her say is more important than his, even if he is paying for it. That's the way it works in Divorce Court.

Hey I thought getting Married and the Blues went together like cheese and pickle, cause you definatly get depressed as soon as you say I do.:Drogar-Evil(DBG):

touche'.

I didn't mean to QUOTE musician as if he wasn't a musician. I quoted it, probably wrongfully so, because the musician was giving me music that had no emotional impact. I like the BLUES....but not for a wedding video. And, not when its new, un-catchy, and boring...just doesnt seem to go.

Its like pairing wine with a breakfast sandwich.
