The HVX Solution we've all been Waiting for - iStore

" and P2 cards are so cheap that it's kind of a mute point-"

Nathan....are you serious>? P2 cards are NOT cheap anywhere in my world:) And this certainly is still a VERY viable solution for off load. Still, 3 years later! Cheaper now then it was then! To this day, the best off load option for the least amount of money is a cheap PC or used G4 Powerbook from Mac...both with standard PCI expansion slot. This will fit the p2 like a glove....or a P2 Memory Store which is still VERY cost prohibitive for many of us....especially considering the P2 cards are NOT cheap yet!

delethompson,

Thanks for your mistake. I am a relatively new 200a user (bought it when it came out a year ago) and never saw this thread. I have 3 older Ipods, including the 60gig that the OP was talking about, the last generation 160gig Classic (will it work on this one) AND the 20gig Black and White (non video) version from just before the 30/60g Colors were launched. I am going to try this weekend on all 3 (my itunes collections are backed up in redundant machines for the business we run)...unless someone can shed some wisdom on the other two specific models mentioned. I am not sure what generation is which....suppose I will google the specifics to figure out what I have and can or can't use. Certainly, the 160gig would be spectacular! How cool would it be to have Apple jump on board with a FCP "mobile" version for Field Drives and off load verification/viewing? I suppose the 34 of us in the market for them would create no such demand for said product:)

I'm babbling...thanks for the link. How Cool! and Weird how this thread is still relevant?:)

I still think this is a great idea though and thanks to Nathan, yes, it's something I still want to try out. I did get excited when I first thought you could record to it but after reading over his instructions again, I then realized it was just to dump the footage too. I think the idea is pretty cool though and Nathan gets a big  for this :)

I agree too... if Apple was proactive, they would totally get on this P2 thing and either make their own cards to work seamlessly with FCP or make a storage unit that's like a firestore but, again, works with FCP and has that nice apple functionality to it.

Nathan:

I wish P2 were as cheap as ipods these days too... why won't they go down in price!. Good idea though and thanks for your original post too... I may just have to try this out as my wife has pretty much taken over my powerbook that I use to dump my footage on.
