The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

I couldn't get through the first 20 minutes of the first film. The shaky handheld footage and obvious story set up just did not do it for me. I turned it off and watched Michael Radford's version of George Orwell's "Nineteen-Eighty Four" instead; a far superior movie. I think I'll pass on future installments of "The Hunger Games" also.

I enjoyed the books as well, for the most part. You can tell they're young adult books because they're written in a juvenile way. It's not just that it's children, but the stories and ideas are very one-dimensional and simple. Don't get me wrong, I liked it, but I had a lot of problems with it as well. It could have been more.

The first movie was a faithful adaptation, however one of the major themes was kind of over-looked at the end. But seems to be present in the trailer (i.e. Peta saying that they're doing it all for the camera).

Curious how this one will turn out.

The first film wasn't bad, it just incredibly meh. Which is kind of worse. Lawrence was literally the only thing that made it watchable. This one looks better, but also kind of looks like an afterthought of the first, which itself is infamously unoriginal.

I'm a big fan of the books, and enjoyed the first movie. Would have enjoyed it a lot more if it didn't have so much terrible shaky cam. Thankfully that seems to be mostly gone in this one, so I am definitely excited.
