The Holiday : conflict?

Watched The Holiday again. (Cameron Diaz, Jack Black, Jude Law, Kate Winslet). What struck me was that the film did not have the usual conflict in many to most other films. What I mean is the conflict, at least 99% of the conflict, was not of the type involving raised voices, shouting, high blood pressure, anger. The conflict was of other types. And it seemed the story revolved more around surprise revelations, setbacks, good things happening to the protagonists (beyond the few but significant events where the protags were dumped by a cheating significant other) that sort of thing. Curious what others think on this, as the story strikes me as an interesting study of conflict of a different sort.

def. interesting considering the 2 characters were removed from their locations. I mean think about it, as a screen writer , where do we draw our conflicts from if the story is a personal relationships one. Of course surroundings, family, friends, job, blasts from the past, etc.. This story is a good example of having no choice but to use on of those elements.

Take the suprise elements for example, SPOILERS ... Jude Law's character ended up having 2 daughters, Jack Blacks character ended up with Kate Winslett. But take into consideration what else could really happen? They were both out of their elements and needed a situation to occur. Not to mention that the 2 Xs were out of the picture pretty early on realistically....

idk if i hit what i was trying to say on the end lol.... more or less... i would agree they def. took a interesting route of carving a story of confilcts out of these two woman.... hope this made sense :)
