saw the trailer myself--not sure what to think yet. I remember having the game of this book on the commodore 64. Never did pass it(text message based games were a ***** back then), but as far as I did go, the story was very funny. This better be good.

This movie looks cool!

I think this year is to be a huge year for movies. King Kong, Sin City, War of the Worlds, Space Balls 2, Star Wars, etc. It's going to be a krazy year! ;D

I think Zaphod is missing something.

Yeah, apparently in this incarnation, his extra head is hidden inside his nose. Don't ask me why.

As a huge fan of the radio series, the book, and the BBC tv show, I await with much trepidation this latest version. Alan Rickman's a good choice for voicing Marvin, and I've warmed to the new Marvin design (short, stubby body, big round head), but the idea of so many American actors in what to me will forever be a quintessentially British comedy (just picture American actors delivering Python routines...)... guess I'll just reserve judgment till I see it and will try not to panic in the meantime :)

It's very British.

Personally, I think the best incarnation is the radio plays.

I just recently read the books, and they're hilarious.
Hopefully this won't disappoint...hopefully...

It's a toss up for me between the radio show and the tv series. The radio show was the original incarnation that kicked off the whole phenomenon and was hilarious, no question (I still have my low-fi audio cassette recordings of the show, taped off public radio back in the 80's...), but I also loved the inventive low-budget visuals of the tv show, which I thought perfectly complemented the tone of the material.

Did you notice that some of the dialogue from the first several scenes of the TV series is dubbed directly from the radio play?

It’s interesting that the TV version is almost perfectly halfway in between the radio plays and books.

Though, Ford’s voice in the radio play is EXACTLY on, as is Trillian’s. Ford was OK in the TV show, but Trillian was awful. Took all the intelligence right out of her.

Never noticed. Guess I'll have to get out my DVD and watch. It's been awhile since I watched the tv series.

Absolutely agree. Not a fan of the tv Trillian. But I love the tv Ford.

I also love the fact that each incarnation of the story was different. Kind of a brilliant conceit to alter the material for each medium, though in some cases it worked better than others.

I'm sincerely hoping this works out well... which I think it will.
