Anyone seen this Neil Jordan movie?

I just love it to bits...great characters and dialog, beautiful locations, wonderfully shot and edited without so much as a wasted second or extraneous frame. Must have seen it a half-dozen times, by now. It's got to be one of the most layered films I think I've seen, from the title itself on down.

never saw it. wasn't this a remake of Melville's "Bob le Flambeur"? if you've seen that, how does it compare?

Yes, it's a remake of 'Bob the Gambler.' I think it's better, in just about every way that it's possible for it to be better. But, in all fairness, it of course owes something to the source material.
