Saw this dynamite gem of a Korean action film, The Good The Bad The Weird, and as its title would indicate its a Korean spin on the Spaghetti Western. However, its not a spoof as much as a remix and has its own legitimate story and charm. I seriously have not had this much fun and seen old school action this good since the 90's. This is real people, doing real stunts, with shots that are held for longer than a second and its a pleasure to watch. Reminds me of the action in films like The Road Warrior and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Kickass stuff, and not balletic like HK cinema, but just real time shooting and brawling. It's also got its tongue firmly in cheek most of the time and doesn't take itself too seriously. Oh, and it's gorgeously shot, with awesome widescreen cinematography. The soundtrack is great too, with its own style that only occasionally echoes Morricone. Too much fun. The story gets a little messy towards the end and climaxes in a rather predictable situation, which is my only criticism. Here's the trailer--
