Whenever I'd pull 'strange' video files into the Vegas timeline, usually if they were DVD .vob files, I'd always get that lagging occurring where the image would stall on the preview screen, the frame number would hang or give the ellipsis "..." after the frame number, and the overall preview response was slow...
...anyhoo, I recently shot a bunch of docu footage at a house renovation, with all kinds of dirt and dust everywhere, and on 1 occasion was forced to switch tape types (wet vs dry)...
...and now, at numerous places, I get that weird lag occurring on the footage, even giving the "..." after the frame number every so often. It almost looks like it's going into slo-mo at those times. This of course, is miniDV, not a .vob file.
I'm assuming the recording was bad, probably due to dirty heads and rollers?
