The Evolution of DVXuser...

It's amazing... I've been here for over 2 years now... (about 2 years of active posting, etc) and this site has just evolved and changed amazingly...

First off, the quality of the films in the DVXfests have risen and risen every single time, so I am really looking forward to this new ADfest coming up in August!

Another thing is it seems more people are actually out there DOING and not just TALKING... or the people that were TALKING, are now DOING, which is even more exciting! I mean, JDS is in pre-prod on a feature, and a lot of other guys are out there working it as well!

I just love this place, and I hope that now I can finally give back some of the information and knowledge I've learned here over the years...

I agree. I've been here since January 2005 and I can agree with Brandon on everything he says.

I've become friends with alot of people on here that really make this place fun.

i'm still in the talking stage, but just about to stand up and start doing stage. in evolutionary terms, i guess i'm about the equivalent of homo erectus...
 
I clicked on this hoping for a graph of the rise and fall of the sites evolution complete with a dawn of man drawing.

Yes a lot of things have changed. I did not know what a "thread" was when I joined. I think I posted asking what a "thread" was, not knowing that I posted in one. I wish the "find all posts by this user" feature spanned server upgrades as my "all posts" only go back so far. Would like to find that one so you could all make fun of me.

Also blckhawk is now almost old enough to be invited to a DVXuser meeting without triggering an FBI alert

I love this site. At the first film set I was ever on, nobody could believe I gained all of my knowledge from the internet. DVXuser really is an incredible board. I started in IMDb.com's "Shoptalk Directors" board when I was a 12-year-old total novice, and somebody posted a link to a thread on here. Since then I've been absorbing everything like a sponge and I often know more than the professionals on sets that have been working for 10 years.


I sound like I'm being paid to say this.
 
Greetings from the newbie on DVXuser. I hope I get to know all of you in this community. I am enjoying dvx so far.
 
DVXUser is a place unlike any other. I love the fact that it's known as the internet equivalent of film school.

DVXUser IS a free film school with endless resources...the two best things anyone could ask for.

....just like some girls i know in school...cheap and unlimited with possibilities. haha :)

haha! Thats great. All I can picture is meeting blckhawk for a DVXuser meeting and having Chris Hanson coming out of nowhere with a film crew with transcripts of all my DVXuser posts...

"ahhh, did you mean it when you asked blckhawk to show you his equipment and you would show him yours?"

"and why are you asking an under-aged boy to show you his gear?"
