The endless 35mm Adapter Saga

Good day!

I know there have been hundreds of posts, questions and answers in regards to this topic, there were shoot outs with great articles, and papa even started to compiling a list. However the more I search the forums and the more I read, the more I get confused or question the decision I made, plus with almost daily new adapter popping up it's quite challenging for technical less knowledgable guys to make the right decision. So here a few questions:

I had my eyes set on the Letus flip. I like the footage, but since it has a few more components to project the image right-side up, I am a little concerned about the light-loss. I will mostly shoot music videos and plan on using the camera in some low-light situations. On the other hand I am not sure how handy its is if i would go with a static adapter, to carry around a field monitor, since this seems to be the recommendation.

I guess my question is, is there really a dramatic image quality difference between these adapters? I know each has its advantages and disadvantages, but can one go completely wrong?

Are there any other adapters that you guys highly recommend. Price is not so much an issue but quality is and so is handling.

I know all this info is somewhere in the forums, but somehow scattered all over, so i just thought I post this.

Thanks for your input!

Cooper.

DONT WORRY BOUT THE FLIP

lol

in the dvx100 and dvx100A models, you can use that little magnet beside the lcd

and for the DVX100B, i tried this yesterday, scared shitless, but i took that little cap off the joint part of the lcd to the camera, and tried pushing that little switch, and it WROEKD!!! no proble, the cap piece went back on mo problem, and i could do it again if i wanted to.

dont worry bout flip, settle for something with better light loss.

What to recommend, here is the thing, i think im typing thi from muscle memory cause its been said soo many times

At one point there were people trying to figure out which adapter is "the BEST ". But after long searching and waiting and model after model, even i figured out that there is no such thing as the best adapter. EAch one has their plus and minus

IF your adapter lets in alot of light and has very little to no light loss, chances are your image will be very sharp, and your bokeh will look like crap, getting rid of the film look.

If your adapter looses alot of light, then your image will be softer, but youll get the fim like bokeh your looking after.

Now where is the compromise? light loss is not linear, so itsn ot fair to say that the letus flip looses 4 stops, it doesnt, it can loose up to 4 stops, but from F 2 to F 2.8 u hink its only half or afull stop.

But honestly dont worry bout the flip, i know this might be a scary thing to try, but whichever model you have of the dvx, there is a way yto work around it, and i will walk you through it step by step if need be. There are solutions people.

im waiting for my ifocus in the mail right now, seemed to be the only one that came with a lens of my choice, and a beautifully made adapter by one of hte forum boys right nere.

ill let you know when i get it.

Oh, there there is the whole static versus moving GG, meh, i like the loook of them both, i dont feel like forking out extra cash for moving GG, wont be blowing up to film screens, just playback on computers, TV's and maybe some big screen tvs. festivals, but no cinemas, and even if i were to, im sure i would still love the look of the static grain. Caus ihave so far. and again, its relaly not a question of which is thes best,

yes some poeple post footage and you get responses like " i see the grain "

" oh ****, there was some grain when you panned for a second in the dark shadow of his left foot "

its realy just the look you like. Marlene even made one with an aol case, yes this provided altimate in sharp image and very little to no light loss, but the bokeh sucked, IMHO ( hi marlene )
