The Dually

Re: The Dually

That's kinda skanky aint it? Too cheap for me. It's almost like the aluminium pipe one.

If you are checking the Glide 4000, be sure to check the "aigle". A french product that is coming to the states. There is a topic on one of those. Full system with arm and vest for US$ 1500. Worth a try, huh?

Re: The Dually

Nrrh, I don't buy it. "Any size camcorder"? Color me skeptical.

Besides, it looks like it would be hell on your lower arms and shoulders.

Re: The Dually

Some fraud info, i really doubt this thing works better than Glidecam or Steadicam. Handles do not look like they isolate the movement, no bearings. I am not sure.

Re: The Dually

Well, let's enlarge the pictures, and investigate:

Manfrotto type monopod

Wooded? base plate

Wood handles (hockey stick)

Gimbles? two caster wheel mounts, clamped to the monopod

Black tape

"Priceless"

All for the low, low price of $100US (apparently not priceless), at a hotmail address.

I bet it comes in a plain brown wrapper.

C'mon guys! The best part is "there is NO need to balance your camcorder" Ha ha ha ha... I spend 15 mins on my Glidecam4000 (with quick release adapter) and I thought I was getting good at it!

It's an "Auto Balancing" Un Balanced device.

Re: The Dually

I've got this old cereal box, a coat hanger and a straw broom...I was thinking this might make a good camera support system, so maybe it's time to put together a prototype.

How much would you guys be willing to pay for such a system?

(note: This system cannot be used in inclimate weather or in close proximity to open flame, however the pattented "sweep shot" system can tidy up pesky dust piles whilst tracking your actors.)

Re: The Dually

Great Idea Mr. Barnes !

I would like to buy your "Sweep Shot" Patent and rights, First offer 1.00.000 $. No more negotiations !

I am going to mount it on a Vacum Cleaner for DV use and then upgrade to a lown-mower for HD.

Any more ideas ? I will pay with shares. :D

Re: The Dually

Danny, with your brash International flair for business and my American penchant for swagger and innovation, we're going to take this low end camera support market by storm.

Unfortunately, I am unable to part with the patent rights for the sweep shot, as they were co-developed with my cleaning lady, but I would gladly license out the broomstick to a joint company incorporated internationally, with an office in Israel and one here in the States.

Your vacuum cleaner mount is a stroke of brilliance, and I’d like to talk to you further regarding this tripod I’ve built out of used toilet paper tubes.

Re: The Dually

Hey ! Something big starts here. We can make fortune
from taking care of the environment by turning the whole industry to a "Recycling" business. Cameras from old 8 mm projectors, Lights from useless candle holders... The sky is the limit.

Actually the Dually guy is a genius ! He makes usfull stuff from
Non-Recycble materials.

BTW- Your cleaning lady is in the deal and you can start shooting her in "Real Action" for the Demo movie.

Re: The Dually

I just built a camera support for $20 , using galvanized pipe and pipe fittings. That rig has the right idea, but looks like its built cheap and the physics are all wrong for true stability.

Does your design include a bearing gimbal? Would love to see photos!

Re: The Dually

I looked at that design and wasn't motivated to be honest.
Great pounds of raw metal laid upon this rig just seems unnecessary aren't we trying to balance the top and bottom is there a a need for a heavy sled? Does Glidecam offer heavy tubing also?
By the way you guys should check out www.dvcamerarigs.com
Dan, has plans for an improved glidecam design with a bearing gimbal which is actually a roller wheel! Innovative eh?
