the dreaded mac vs pc debate

I hate to sound condescending, but... *It's just a tool*. In the right hands it's great & in the wrong hands it's useless. An NLE is a baseball bat - There is no better/worse. Just what some prefer - Simple as that.

Look in the SciFest forum. See what hoops people have been jumping thorugh, trying to get a film out of the various editors.

these debates are getting tiring to even me. Google this stuff- you'll find plenty of information.

Thanks for the constructive comments. If you find the topic to be tiring, then don't take the time to respond

As for all the other ppl, thanks for your 10 cents. I think that premiere pro and final cut pro look very similar, so it basically comes down to the hardware. I got a book on final cut pro, and the two look so similar that I should be able to pick up that software pretty easy, just a matter of getting used to the different user interface.

yeah, and even that isn't TOO much different... if you know one you can pick up any of the others pretty fast.

I know what you mean about the job hunting thing. Most companies seem to need people who know FCP or Avid.

I'm a PC guy. I know how to repair them, I know how to troubleshoot them. I just know the system. I don't know MACS, so I'll probably never switch to them. Just my .02 cents.

My daughter has a PC that's had to be repaired twice. Since 1987, I've never had to have a Mac be repaired. Am I lucky? Maybe. Do I like Macs? Ya sure, you betcha.

But. what happens when it needs to be repaired or it crashes? It's time to go to the APPLE store. I don't want to have to do that. I've had friends who've had their Macs crash on them during an important project, and they lost everything. On the other hand, my PC has crashed during a project and nothing was missing or damaged! I was able to save everything :) I'll be quiet now. It's all preference really. I just don't like when people say, you have to use a Mac to be in the industry. Says who! I tell them! Peace.

I don't know what happens when it needs to be repaired. I've upgraded four times since 1987 and have never had to have a machine repaired. Maybe I've been llucky but what can I say...
