The Devil Wears Prada

I am currently wearing my flame-suit.

I saw this movie yesterday and I do not regret it.

It was actually pretty damned funny.

Meryl Streeps' performance was pretty convincing, though I don't know a single thing about fashion... and it's very obvious. But, I gathered that she was supposed to be playing an independent, self-made woman whom was into her work and didn't regret being so... she did it well. Even when the character showed another face, that too was rather convincing.

Anne Hathaway is totally clueless at first, and it's great. Her transformation is pretty neato, but I do have to say that I never felt like she was becoming something that she hated. She was simply trying to do what she could to get where she wanted to be.

The "twists" and "turns" seemed kinda forced, dunno why. But, overall the story was pretty linear and never became boring by any means.

I can't say that David Frankel (Dir.) actually broke any boundaries at all, and I don't know if he was supposed to? He dealt with the comedy very well and that's what makes this movie. There are some neato shots that were obvious POV cameras, and they had to have been little Sony Handycams. These shots feel out of place, maybe a little much but I'll let those others who watch decide.

Overall, I think the IMDB rating of 7.1 out of 10 is accurate.

Recommended as a date movie, because that's how I caught it. Or a guilty pleasure movie... you know, something you lie and tell your guy friends that you went to see with a hot chic that you've never met.

I'll stand with you. I saw this with my sister and I enjoyed it. I worked at a modeling agency for about ten months and the owner was a lot like Meryl Streeps character. I don't know if she read the book and thought it was a good manual for business management or if she had just picked up this attitude from her years as a model. Either way it was fun to see a larger than life version of what I had to work with.

Together we shall be unbroken.

No seriously, though. It really was a good movie. I'm totally cool with venturing into other avenues.
