The Dark Knight Rises

I enjoyed The Dark Knight Rises, particularly the ending.

+1

I'm about 50/50 on whether I liked the first one or the third one better... well, maybe 49/51 in favor of the third one... but either one was FAR better than the second.

imnsho.

EDIT: I saw it with two family members and they both said basically the same.

Ok, so I watched BB on Thurs, TDK on Fri, and TDKR last night. After watching them in succession like that, the overwhelming flaws and shortcomings in TDKR were even more apparent. Were the first two "perfect"? Of course not, but by comparison TDKR felt like an imitation of them.. like another director trying to make a Nolan/Batman film. Bane was incredible as was Zimmer's score and Pfister's lens, but for me the film itself just falls noticeably short of the quality of the first two.

After watching this nobody will change my mind about marketing being 80% of box office success, that film was poor, bane was defeated in lame way, why wayne was spared i have no clue.Lighting was sometimes quite random.Disappointed overall.Ah and this twist for the sake of twist... wow.

The Blu-ray switches aspect ratios at random times (probably between IMAX footage). I find it distracting and deeply irritating.

The Dark Knight did the same thing, although not as often. It's how it played in the IMAX screenings.

On a huge screen like that though it's not at jarring. On a TV even a 50in it can be a little annoying. Doesn't bug me much though. I'm glad they do it instead of cropping the IMAX footage...that would suck.

I just don't get why they shoot the film in 2 such wildly different aspect ratios. If they shot the non-Imax parts in academy, they could show it in 1.85 in theaters and 1.78 on home video.

Well I'd just rather they shot the whole movie in IMAX as that footage looks spectacular on my system. The switches didn't bother me and a few people I watched it with didn't even notice, but I have a big screen. On a smaller one I could see it being more noticeable.

I agree. I was pumped for the film. Bane breaking Batman's back is one of the most ICONIC storylines of comic book history, in the hands of Christopher Nolan, the "Filmmaking God" in some people's minds. It should've been so much better than what it was. The Dark Knight is by far the best of the 3, followed by Batman Begins then this. Bane went out like a little *****, Bruce Wayne has been limping for 8 years since the events of TDK, has his back broken by Bane, yet after resting a little while, becomes only the second person to climb out of the pit in history, beating guys who, while not at FULL health, are in better shape than him. NO. NO. NO.

Plus, JGL as Batman? No. Dude's a good actor, but should not be Batman.

I was confused after watching TDKR - the film got glowing reviews across the board but I came out the cinema thinking it was overlong, boring in places (the whole pit storyline) and had weak twists, agree with above poster and bwwd

Some kind of random thoughts. There are a lot of reasons why I wanted to like this movie. Catwoman. The "No Man's Land" plot, which is a really cool Batman/Gotham storyline, but they only used the barest concept of the comic story with just a nod to it (Catwoman's neighborhood). JGL as a new, uncertain rookie Batman as teased at the end.

But at the end I had to say that this was Nolan's Gone With The Wind. Soooo long. My wife feel asleep halfway through and I just kept sitting there wondering when they'd wrap things up. It made me think of the Robocop triology--in the third one he gets a jetpack and everything goes to sh!t. Same thing happens here--he gets a Batjet and it all goes to sh!t. At least Michael Keaton knew enough to get shot down immediately.

I though it was pretty good, not as good as Dark Knight or Batman Begins but still a good movie. I have watched it about five times so far and each viewing makes it a lot better. Didn't care too much for Bane or Catwomen, I would have liked Bane but I found his story to be rather weak. I just wished it would have been a little longer it felt a little short compared to the other ones. I know a lot of people have said it was to long but I prefer longer movies over shorter ones, I am more willing to pay money for a 3hr long movie than a 1hr and 30 min long movie but that's just me. I was very impressed with JGL he is becoming a very good actor, in performances in his last few movies have been amazing.

I really hope that Nolan makes another one though, there was talk before Bane was made the villain of having Johnny Deep play as The Riddler.
