If you're in LA come and check out The Coat Room (www.thecoatroom.com) at the FAIF Film Festival & Awards Gala (www.magicalfilmfest.com)

The Coat Room was shot on the DVX100A for a combined budget of less than 15,000.

The screening is on Wednesday, October 12th 2005 at 11:00 p.m. at the Mann Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard.

The festival, despite my pleas, is projecting on DVD. Has anyone had experience with material shot on DVX projected on a big screen on DVD?

DVD works just fine for minidv material. I've screened docs on dvd. You lose a little quality, but not that much that the audience will notice.

I screened on DVCAM on a decent sized screen and the DVX held up really nicely.

I'm just worried about the DVD on such a big screen...

I'd be more worried about their projector. With a really good projector you'll be fine. But with really old projectors colors can get a little wonky.

You're spot on Isaac - I had to adjust the projector when I screened it on DVCAM...

OK, maybe it's not so bad after all...I was really worried about promoting the event to distributors and such as I felt the image quality wouldn't hold up!
