Spirit Animal
Here are the prelimenary numbers for Friday and Saturday

1.Batman Begins $26,770,000
2.Bewitched $20,200,000
3.Mr. and Mrs. Smith $16,750,000
4.Herbie: Fully Loaded $12,750,000
5.Land of the Dead $10,233,000

Here we are in the middle of Summer and these are our choices. How can Land of the Dead be under HERBIE:FULLY ****ID STUPID and BE-FREAKIN-WITCHED? I acn buy BATMAN BEGINS holding on to the Number 1 Slot as I have heard it is pretty damn cool (compared to Burton's crap excuse for a Franchise starter) and I am barely holding onto MR ANDF MRS SMITH holding onto Number 3 (But I guess it has Anjelina and Brad the WHY IS THIS GUY FAMOUS Pitt)

Now; this isn't a complaint on why isnt a Zombie film doing better as you can read my review in the FILM DISCUSSION threads but this is just a bizarre list of films to choose from in the height of Summer.

Agreed and our prospects don't seem to be getting much better except for War of the Worlds. Hollywood seems to have hit a slow point....

I'm not big on Superhero Films; I'll wait for DVD on this one

Mr and Mrs Smith? Really? It looks so, so, so lame.

You can always count on Spielberg.

Hook.

Always.

AI.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

The Lost World.

The Sugarland Express.

And those are just the ones generally considered sub-par. I haven't liked anything of his since "Jurassic Park" with the exception of "Minority Report." And that was "like, " not "love."

Forgot the other superhero movies, we're talking about Chris Nolan here and if anything, BB reminds Blade Runner, not some Spiderman. The movie is so realistic and gritty, you just buy it. Besides, it's 2.35:1, you know it's not the same, when you watch it at home.

As for Mr and Mrs Smith, well it does look lame judging by the trailer and I was forced to see it by my girlfriend, but I did not regret it. It's just plain fun and Liman does great job again.

You didn't like Schindler's List? Saving Private Ryan?

Well, Spielberg ALMOST always delivers. I can forgive him for the rest.

Really David? Since Jurassic Park?

The Terminal -Liked
Catch Me If You Can - Liked
Minority Report - Liked
Artificial Intelligence: AI - LOVED THE MIDDLE ACT; LIKED ACT ONE; HATED ACT 3
Saving Private Ryan -LOVED
Amistad - LOVED
Schindler's List - LOVED

Jubal - I thought "Always" was a great film. Having Audrey Hepburn helped a lot, but overall it was a visually stunning movie with a great story (although cheesy at times). I've got the DVD.

I loved "The Sugarland Express". you gotta remember is was the '70s. Besides Vilmos' cinematography rocks. The best performance in the film is from Ben Johnson.

Ugh...Act 3 in AI was just embarassing. The CGI blue fairy sucked so much. But I agree, the first two thirds of the film were fantastic.

I think I can answer the first part of your question, how land of the dead is behind herby:fully loaded? lindsey lohans in it, thats why I saw it. I don't know how it's behind bewiched though. -Chapman out

Haley Joel Osment just plain frickin' creeps me out. And Spielberg couldn't decide to keep his own style or use Kubrick's, and it ended up being a mess of the two . . . because the two styles really don't complement each other.

I know I'm going against the grain in not particluarly caring for "SPR," even though I have the DVD. But take away the invasion scene, and it's pure schlock with cliche' characters and a ludicrous story (risking 8 guys to save only one. No, it's not really a true story).

I saw "Schindler's List" the one time and I don't particularly care to see it again.

Not to rag on Spielberg; he's god GOLD under his belt, baby, GOLD. But not everything he touches TURNS to gold.
